Near by, in the county of Devon, is the city of Plymouth. With a poulation of 250,000, Plymouth is the biggest city within a 100 mile radius. It's has quite an interesting history as a city and is very popular with tourists.
Cornwall itself is also extremely popular with tourists during the summer months. Unfortuneately the British climate is not always kind and has a tendancy to put people off.
The reason Cornwall is so popular with tourists is probably due to the fact it has a longer coast-line than any other English county. Water sports are therefore very popular and there are some fantastic beaches.
Being surrounded by the sea has the effect of causing the summers to be cooler and the winters to be warmer. Cornwall's attractiveness now means many houses are being purchased for use as holiday homes by outsiders. Many of these properties stand empty for long periods of the year. Housing for local people like myself is becoming limited and the prices are extortionate.
